My Compass

You are my candle

                Like a speck of light in pitch black

                You illuminate me

                You create a trace of clarity

                to each step in my path               

    and give me vision in my darkness

You are my gravity

                Like the earth around the sun

                You lure me around you

                And though from a distance

                you draw me in to keep me

                from drifting away and apart

You are my anchor

                Like a ship caught in a deluge

                You pacify me

                Although surrounded by

                the untamed waves of a chaotic sea

                you sooth my uncertainty with reassurance

You are my compass

                As your charm captivates

                You invite me towards where

                I am supposed to be

                Pointing only to one certain place

                With you – In your arms

                And in your arms with your love.
