I press eyes skyward
content with the break of day
thoughts rain down on me.
I see their eyes gleam
innocense beyond their years
and I wonder too.
If they ever wished
if Daddy could just hold them
and wipe away tears?
Time heals wounds they say
but hatred never dissipates
and words break old hearts.
I cannot retrace
footprints washed away by tides
I can only dream.
That someday those eyes
will understand that Daddy
never stopped loving.
Words pain deep within
wasted on lost emotions
and Daddy just cries.
Here from me to you
that all the world will witness
Daddy's love is true.
