Once Upon a Purple Haze

Folder:
And Time Goes By

Purple haze all in my brain

Lately things just don't seem the same

Acting funny but I don't know why

'Scuse me while I kiss the sky

(From "Purple Haze" - Jimi Hendrix)

Once Upon a Purple Haze

Once upon a purple haze

I found a place near a millpond,

A playground of passion

And paper birds of peace.

My thoughts rendered the sky tiny,

And my tears an ocean.

The crackling of the season brings

Moment-to-moment entanglements.

I can hear the shape

of the rain,

and see the voice of the

mockingbird.

I feel the tide going out;

I am afloat on bell lilies.

Strobe lights flicker to tell me

I am back home.

You lie on wine-soaked emotions,

my journal beside you, opened

to page one.

I turn away, without a word.

I had forgotten that your

love could be this messy.
