I love to watch the setting sun, in tranquility
It fills my heart with memories of things that used to be
Transporting me back into a past of softest southern breeze
And times I spent in solitude beneath the live-oak trees
I have lived in this enchanted land, each day by God's will
And though the years are passing, my childhood's vivid still
I dream of climbing orange trees to freedom up above
Across the southern countryside to view this land I love
In spring a fragrance calls me to spreading jasmine trees
To parks and open spaces where hearts can wander free
To lakes and cypress, spanish moss, and many wondrous things
Enjoying each awakening the changing season brings
The colors of my childhood come in sweet reverie
Beckoning for my return to a time I long to be
To mockingbirds and coastal shores, simplicity's gentle face
All these colors bring me back to a special place
Amd now, I shall go back, I know, because I loved it so
And one compelling reason now...tells me I must go
To times I've missed, the magic, and colors I recall
The beauty of my heritage, most precious gift of all
