On a summer evening long ago
sitting near a stream
images of knights and castles
filled her childhood dreams.
She thought of only pretty things
(too young to know of pain)
she believed that in her dream world
forever she'd remain
True to all those childhood dreams
her knight came by, and then
he stole her heart and carried her
to realms she'd never been;
and filled her life with roses
slew dragons every day
but then one day death's angel came
and took her knight away.
The years have passed, the castle's still
she lingers near the stream
and dreams of knights and castles
and of her childhood dreams.
For she had seen her dream come true
and watched it fade again;
still she believes in fairy tales
and holds on to her dreams
