I will always be who I was
and who I am,
though, in days past,
I thought I was the
forever girl.
Reality captured me,
and I stopped staring
into Neverland.
As I began a new season of
my life, I resolved never to
be lost again to the world.
I took a one-credit course in
freedom, and finally admitted
to myself that I was liberated
long before I knew what the
word meant.
I cannot ignore the clime
and season,
but I refuse to give in to
winter's cold,
waiting to see spring's
wildflowers, though
ever knowing
I am a child of time.
