Quote:The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.
Maya Angelou
A little girl making her way in a
frightening world,
she knew why the caged
bird sings.
She deliberately speaks in color
and no longer shuffles her
way through the stormy
winds.
Her name was Marguerite,
she knew from the beginning
where she was going, and
she is thankful for her journey,
for she has risen above all
the madness.
With freedom in her eyes, and
love in her heart, she moved
mountains, and has ascended
to heights beyond a little girl’s
imagination, to realms
that kings and queens
envy.
Her dreams became words that
found their way
into the hearts of those
who knew the pain
of discrimination and
poverty.
She is the songbird,
and her wings
fit her well.
