I know it's going to be hard to believe
When I'm sitting in front of you
Convulsing out tears
But
I don't want you to comfort me
I want you to tell me the truth
I don't want you to feel safe and protected
I want you to spill out your heart
[And all is darkness
And all its longing
And all its selfish desires
And all its most protected secrets]
Don't sell me short
I deserve the truth
No matter how hurtful
Don't think it will be okay
If you say what sounds best
The truth is ugly; it's raw
It's rearing its head every time you stay silent
I need to know now, as I'm staring at the abyss
What's real and what's fabricated
What I wanna see and what's underneath
Don't think it doesn't matter
And don't think it's insignificant
