It was just plain sad
Just one of those days
When you sit and you think
In a gloomy kind of way
You think of all the things you've done wrong
Especially since you knew what was right all along
But you can't explain your actions
and the thoughts creep in your head
Maybe everyone would just be better off...
If I were only dead.
As evil organ music crescendos and the darkness seeps in
You need to somehow find a way to silence all the din
You stand up from where you sit on the lip of the bridge
And it might as well be a steep cliff or a ridge.
So, fare thee well...NO! but alas, it is true!
This bridge be no ridge as its waters run blue!
Where art thou ravine, where art thou, oh stones?!
I'm in need of something that will break all my bones!
I can't dive in the water and hope that I drown
It's too painless a death for this stupid clown
Now what's this I see... a Mississippi river boat?!
And what sweetness is this to my ears that does float?
Realization sets in as my heart starts to pound
I'd forgotten how much I do love this great sound
Since the jazz reached my ears I can't manage a frown
The boat rocks a little as I jump on down
It's a miracle it found me and not a minute too soon
I only know it's feelin' right as I dance to the moon.
