He was late. Electricity went off the night before, his phone did not fully charge and the alarm didn’t ring. He regrets that day he decided to throw his old alarm clock and equip himself with the latest technology and buy a smartphone that saves energy when about to die by turning sound off. The sound of that same annoying cat that had him pass through “crazy-bed”syndrome in the last four years, this day, made him a big favor. He got out of bed, skipped his bathroom routine, and went straight to the closet; there was not very much clothes to choose, one simple normal outfit he needed that morning, the same one he has been using the last two days; he did not care using the same thing, anyway, he knew it was better get used to that. A pair of shoes, one white shirt, a tie, and a suit. He put his socks first, then the shirt, followed by pants, shoes and finally a tie. He didn´t need to apply anything on his hair since he recently went to the barbershop. He looked and his phone, it was 10 minutes to the hour, furthermore it had only three percent of charge left and a grey shady color theme as part of the battery saving mode, it looked like one of Monroe’s old black and white movies. The phone rang. He did not answer. He knew what the call was about, so there was no need for “you´re late”conversations and responsibility issues. With his shoes untied, he grabbed the keys from side pocket of his old blue jeans and walked straight to the main door. He took his time as expected, it was probably the last moment of privacy and autonomy. He thought for a moment whether he should go or not. He analyzed for a moment both sides of Ethics. If he didn’t show up, was he against the categorical imperative that his master Kant always talked about? Or was he just following what made him happy according to his always loving father Aristoteles. Nevertheless, what he considered correct at that time didn’t’ t matter anymore it was time to face reality and just see what happened. He opened the door, closed it, went straight to that stupid old truck that he bought on sale from cowboy. He got into that old fashioned Fordy that he always hated to see around when he was in high school. He got the engine to start and the radio started to play Neil Young greatest hits local station, he didn’t know the name of the song, nor he didn’t care turning it off. He started riding, and though a while about how he always wanted to become lawyer. He probably would have achieved it if it was for that stupid frat scandal that got him expelled for life. One of the tires was loose and he barely made it. There he arrived, a bunch of people stared, and there he was the person that called waiting for him at almost the end of the room. He just went straight there and sat down next to him; there was bunch of papers in the front table. He didn’t pay much attention about the plan, he just wanted to get through with it finally. He looked at his phone for the last time to check for the hour, but the battery was already off.
