I Didn’t Win A Prize
I worked so hard day and night.
I tried to win, with all my might.
I learnt all notes – no matter what size,
But still, I didn't win a prize.
I sacrificed going to port Grand or Parks.
And so, I passed with very good marks.
Although my exams were hard, I was very confdident,
But Alas! I didn't win a prize.
My friend got the highest in English,
She showed me her prize with pride.
I knew I had re-checked and revised,
But still, I didn't win a prize.
My Bestie always listens to music,
And still, she got the highest in Mathematics.
My time, I knew how to utilize.
But still, I didn't win a prize.
Some won prizes in Urdu or Science,
Others in Islamiat, Computers or History.
I went to a coaching-center and a tuition,
But still, I did not go to the prize distribution.
Although, I pleased my father and mother.
Surprised my cousins and astonished my brother.
But with myself, I was not at all pleased.
A terrible grief had suddenly seized.
But I knew I had a chance next year.
That made me work harder, with a will, so queer.
Then as hot tears rolled down my eyes,
I remembered, this year I had not won a prize.
the
prize you crave
is in your own heart,
the talents you possess will win you all the future successes you could ever imagine
if you can dream it
you can be it
by the way, we don't always see a trophy when we win,
but if we are game and compete honestly
as Freddie Mercury so aptly sang...
"we are the champions!"
