Curling leaves caught in a chill Autumn breeze.
Winter’s deep dark sleep comes ever closer
With each long night.
Enjoying warm sunlight while shivering from Fall weather
Nights so cold as to freeze candle flame.
Now fading sun sees my passing as well
With no renewal of spring.
Hail to the Summerland!

I see that I visited this poem on 3/20/04, just before some major crises in my life. And still, after over a year (and all those problems), this poem's beauty continues to resonate.
