gains fall slowly through the hourglass
the sands of time and threads of life shift
a grain moves close to another and two threads cross
both grains and threads make plans to be together
a wedding, a birthday, a childs first steps
the two bits of string twist and twine
the grains of sand move together
both inseperable as sky and starts
but like all things, one string is shorter
in such a shifting place, to bits of sand will not stay forever
one grain falls, the thread ends short
promises broken, feelings hurt, people parting, time moving
the grain left alone, the threads now parted
can't say goodbye, but can not say they are here
more sand falls, other threads start and stop
time and life go on, each piling on the other
and still, we take people in passing.
