Give 'em that intellectual look,
That kindred gaze,
Looking off of the page
Into space, into mystery, into theory, into nothing.
Give 'em something worthwhile to think vile thoughts of.
Give 'em nothing worth nothing, give 'em something they'll enjoy.
Give 'em inspiration that's worth waiting for
Or imaginary hopes and dreams to build bird houses out of
To hang from their favorite tree in their backyard.
Alas
Give them something just to look at
Or something they can dream about.
