Coming to peace,
With fashion and past,
I threw out that old shirt-
How long did that last?
Raising my hand up
From the back of the class
My voice was never heard
And the moment did pass.
I threw myself down
And blamed my old shoes
I wasn't meant to be the dreamer
With nothing to lose.
Author's Notes/Comments:
When I turned 8, for my birthday, I begged my parents for a New Kids On The Block T-shirt. I got it, and wore it with pride for oh..5 minutes. (I never really liked them anyway). How can I throw away all that he did to me, when it's the only thing that's kept me breathing for all these many years?
*sigh* Here she goes..back into therapy. So you can analyze my relationship with my father, and wonder why I'd compare him to a New Kids On The Block T-shirt and my (cool for only awhile) Punky Brewster shoes.
