Fable (Alejandro Santos and Ana Sofia Paredes)

Hibernation; which is a common strategy for surviving, is something that no bear can skip.

After a long five months winter nap, the grizzly bear finally woke up. He stretched and walked out of his cozy cave. As he approached the entrance of the cave, something started to scare him. He heard nothing, it was too quiet to be summer already. Something was wrong, he knew it without any doubt. The first look amazed him; there was nothing but his cave. No plants, no rocks, no clouds, no trees; only tiny rays of light passing what it seemed to be pollution. In his desperation to find someone or something he started to walk, by the time he realized he was not going to find anyone it was much darker. He started to lose hope until he finally spotted a yellow glowing dot. What was that? He questioned. The moon? No, it was to tiny to be the moon.  A star? No, a star was not as yellow as that dot. A firefly? Was it a firefly? After moments of thinking he figured out that the tiny glowing dot must be a firefly.  The lost hope of the grizzly bear reappeared out of nowhere. He started to run through the pollution. It was very blurry and his eyes started to burn. It was almost impossible to see through all of that contamination. When he finally found the firefly he could not be happier. The firefly spoke to the bear after seeing his concern.

“You are alive! Hello grizzly bear, I am bob; the firefly. I am very happy to know that I am not alone.”

“What happen? What do you mean by alone?”-

“You don’t know anything, do you?.. Where have you been these past five months? Sleeping?!”

“Well, yeah? Where do you think I was.”

“ I don’t know..”

“I want to know where is everyone! Where are they? Where is my pack!?”

“They are all gone”

“What do you mean by they are all gone?!, they left me? Here? By myself?”

“We are the only two survivors.. it was a tragedy.. all of this pollution ended with everyone”.

“What? How? I don’t understand”

“It is not difficult to understand, there is only one answer to all of this and it is simpler than you could imagine… Humans; that’s what happen! They destroyed the word!”
