Denunciation

A sacrifice to a deity in dreams for a better reality
An empty prayer to echo through eternally, but no one hears it but you
You created an epic atrocity, millions died for a belief
A misguided trust just left to rust in the rain from dawn ‘til dusk
Ending what was a blind confide, how many has gotta die
Before you’re satisfied with this never-ending lie
Come on you can only last so long before everyone finds out they are wrong
Then everything is thrown into utter chaos, and nothing will be able to save us
We will destroy ourselves, was this your hell, is your prophecy being fulfilled
You spoke the obvious, blind and oblivious, yet you still became deified
Your promise of eyes to the blind was a lie, and too many has died
But still it continues, drowning in our own shit
It’s gone way too far to just forget it, so where do we go from here
Should we even continue to care, you couldn’t have been fair
Because you don’t exist, but still we persist
And succumb to the liar for hopes we won’t be cast into the fire
And worship you as a sire, just so we won’t be singled out on the pyre
Anything to destroy the heretic, but the air is far too thick
To just leave the crime, you coat the dead in lime
Martyr anyone out of line, but still some step away
Refuse to be “saved”, not becoming one of the enslaved
Fighting the system, but only the shadows stick by them
And in the end the right are wrong and the dirt survives
And forbidden out of reach is the light, creating a forever night
Of such magnitude no one can fight, so they just sit tight
Hoping it will all go away, and be a memory of yesterday
Praying for a gift from above, believing the lie of everlasting love
Believing the beauty of a turtledove will always last
But now it grows old way too fast and will soon be cast
Into the vast emptiness of death himself

Author's Notes/Comments:

A result of extreme boredom in third period. I think the meaning behind this one is pretty obvious. Basically a type of diatribe against religion.
