In the face of death I shall not stray
From the hand that has guided me safely, thus far this way
For in love he sought me and from sin he bought me
And all that I was has long been swept away;
The fear that had once gripped me, no longer holds me:
In sleep, I can rest; and in waking I will profess
He that keeps my soul still all the day
A sinner I once was, a believer I became;
To my Lord, My Savoir, to his arms I came
And will remain there so, until in the sleep of death
I shut my eyes in peaceful woe
And open them in glory
To behold Jesus’ face.
