My Shield, Your Sword

Renaissance deflecting blows,
stopping the oncoming torrent
of the things that want to destroy me;
you are my shield.
Together we show our potential;
to shrug off attacks and move
forward into the worlds beyond
what we thought possible.
The journey was only possible
and the only way forward is
with you
I could not see it any other way.
I never knew how much
I needed you so that I
could heal until you
came to my side;
My Shield.
My armor is broken;
cracked, shattered, failing,
and yet I know you'll be there
at my side.
Holding you close, I know
together we can
overcome the tides
of all battles.
The sun shines brighter
with you shining back
in the glorious beauty
of your glow.
Together we can survive
into the future that we
can't see into the
tides of time.
What is a knight without
a shield and what is
a knight without a sword
at their side?
And so I hope to protect you
in the same way
and so I will be
Your Sword.
