the true story of the bat

The true story of the bat

During the first years of the planet Earth, the gods had granted all the living creatures what they wanted. Even though their desires were innocent and simple: food and shelter.  All the creatures coexisted in total peace. It was possible to see a male adult lion taking care of the elephant’s babies meanwhile the parents were searching for food.  They even organized one party every week so the whole diversity of living things could gather and enjoy meeting new friends. The parties had always the same kind of dynamic, music was played and they danced and sang during the whole night. But there was one animal which was different to the others, he was the only one that didn’t seem to fit and was always complaining about everything, this was the bat.

The bat was always saying that the strongest animals like the tigers, lions, and the bears were the one with a lot more of rights than the others. Also he didn’t like the way turtle was so patient always and neither the long neck of the giraffe. The bat thought that the zebra was so silly and was always making fun of it. Time passed and the animals started to get sick of him, so they started to leave him a side. They were all so tired of the harsh comments and critics from the bat that one day they didn’t invite him to the weekly party.

The bat was so angry, “I can’t believe the tiny size of their brains, fools!”. That night he arrived to the party and started to yell at everyone and critize them, “Hahaha wow where did you got that ugly dress?...  Common zebra, couldn’t you get anything worse?...” until he made the rabbit cry. The rabbit was so devastated and the gods suddenly appeared. “Bat, you have insulted everyone from past time, they always told you to stop and you didn’t, you even became worse. From now on, we are going to take from you your ability to see as you only use it to find the defects of others.” So then the gods took the vision out of the bat as consequence of its bad attitude and that’s why now on days this animal is blind.
