So we come full circle

streets unprotected

daylight desperation

brings out thieves.

.

In a people who praise

gun ownership but believe

they cannot die from bullets,

enter a dark city street

on the way to the opera

or a restaurant. 
.

Desperation on cold concrete

comes rainbow facaded, no

one expects the adrenaline

rush of fear that lasts until

their life ends.

.

I wonder when or if, safe

between friends outside

at the public park, desperation

or madness will step into

light from shadow and end

me and mine for a few bucks.
