A Gray Durango
joined the downtown
protest and a shot
was fired from it
into the crowd.
No one got a license
plate, no one saw
a face.

Detroit, Congress Street,
a few miles away
last night where I fought
with a slow conscience
for whether I should
be out where a 19 year
old died.
.
Black , 19, driver confused.
We will find out eventually
who and what races of
the players in the drama
when the rage fades
so that, afraid, fewer
hit the streets with guns
and naivety.
