Infrequently, I trip over a verb

tense and wonder, is that right

or did I learn it wrong once?

.

Nouns are easy, you can identify

a bad noun case instantly

but those pesky little verbs

evolved oddly and have more

forms than a NYC storefront.

.

I truly would learn English

well but for all those verb

tenses. They hang around waiting

for the tongue to trip over

them, for the mind to flip

into "huh" mode, but more

than confound, verbs, like

adverbs were invented

to drive us bonkers.
