Summer nights and fireflies
Are all you need for magic
Smell the flowers in the air
It is almost tragic
One mystical night
When I was but a lass
He caught them for me
And we placed them in a glass
We watched them glow
For a little while
Looking at each other
And watching the other smile
Such simple things
Can cause such joy
I was just a girl
And he was just a boy
But on that magical night
We became so much more
Somehow two children
Had found that door
A night I will never forget
Watching the fireflies dance
Standing in that field
It felt almost like a trance
The stars overhead
Were so bright and clear
We were one with the world
And had nothing to fear
Summer nights and fireflies
Are all that's needed for magic
You can't have one without the other
And their beauty is quite tragic
