Grow Up

 If I could reverse time
To make you all strangers again
It’d be easier on me
Instead I go insane
Over each and every one
Of the people in my life
Trying to sort one from the bunch
Try to make one of them my wife

But that’s a silly,
Juvenile
Way to think about things

And some day we’ll all grow up
Leave the fairy tales behind
We’ll throw down our hands
And open our eyes
To the things that really matter
One life we have to live
Get your heads around that or
Be miserable like I am.

 Teacher draws a line
‘Cross the white board she’s lying
A preacher of politics
Stop listening she’s trying
To close your minds to ideas
Geometry is bullshit
We’re looking for the other half
It’s impossible to find it

 And that’s silly,
Juvenile
Way to think about things

And some day we’ll all grow up
Leave the fairy tales behind
We’ll throw down our hands
And open our eyes
To the things that really matter
One life we have to live
Get your heads around that or
Be miserable like I am.

When I was young my mother
She taught me how to love
How to act how to think
Then flushed me down the kitchen sink
And into a world
That didn’t play by the rules
Chewed me up and spit me out
Broke my soul without a doubt

 I was stupid
Juvenile
I had no idea how to think about things

 So then I grew up
I left the fairy tales behind
I threw down my hands
I opened up my eyes
To the things that really matter
One life we have to live
Get your fucking heads around that or
Be miserable like I am.

And some day you’ll grow up
Leave the fairy tales behind
You’ll throw down our hands
And open your eyes
To the things that really matter
One life we have to live
Get your heads around that or
Be miserable like I am.
