I have an idea or two
Of how the world should be run
But I never learned to voice them
I was always told to just keep them silent
Keep them buried
Until they’re dug up
But then it’s too late
I think the world needs to change
I find this life to be so strange
We’re all taught to love one god
And then we find that he is a fraud
A carnival act of greater beings
At least that is how it seems to me
But I am only one person
I’m only one voice
And I love to hear another opinion
But I know there may be no other
That would share so openly
The things I choose to say
The words I scream in a whisper
I have an idea or two
Of how one should live they’re life
I feel as though we need to be selfish
Care about ourselves
And about nobody else
Then you’ll come to find
Happiness is the only self righteous thing
We allow ourselves to taste
But I believe that when you find
That you have found your place
Then you’ll see within your mind
That that is not the case
It is not selfish if in the end
You share your happiness with another
But you must love yourself
Before loving someone else.
At least that’s how it seems to me.
But I am only one person
One person with one voice
And I would love to find another
Who would stand beside me
And support the things I choose to say
The words I scream in a whisper
I have an idea or two
About our politics
We all strive for the idea of happiness
But how are we to find such a thing
In world like the one today
Where nuclear and biological warfare are everyday terms
For the reason we condemn men to death
Allowing the missiles to be built and launched
Would only shorten the inevitable result
And save the trouble of mourning for your loved ones
That you are already rejoined with
At least that’s how it seems to me
I have an idea or two
About the meaning of life
The meaning of life is to die
After living the happiest life you can
But I am only one voice
One human being surrounded by billions
Someone out there must believe the things I say
The words I scream in a whisper
