My grandfather pack of cards
In that corner of the living room, there rests that small squared green table. It’s covered with dust now since there’s no one to play and bet. A long time ago when my family used to live in the house of my grandparents that table was always used, and covered with laughs and joy. I have always considered my grandfather as a life teacher, with his advices and wise words. He did have a hard life, and of course a longer one than the one I have now. He had this especial sense of humor, particular characteristic of him which I admire. He used it very often, and in many situations, even when there was not the time and place for a joke he find a funny point of view in many situations. Also, he promoted the unity in the family, since he strongly believed that every member of it must have a spare time where everybody could relax and interact with the rest of the family. When we used to live there, every night my grandfather invited my brother, my mother and me to play cards in that small table, and even if we didn’t know how to play, my grandfather had the patience to teach us all the gambling art. Each day a new game and a new bet were played, and even if my brother and I didn’t understand some games we had a great time, since we laugh with the commentaries of the old man. Like that time when he said we had so much good luck that he will sent us to Las Vegas to gain some more. Now the time has passed and my family and I live in a new town and in a new house leaving my grandparents’ place. Now the small table is all alone in that corner, or at least without the color of the old times when we used to play. However the tradition of the game remains, and even if it’s not a poker game or even a card game, the laughs and comments still are made, no matter the location, the house or how often we play, the tradition still remains, and it remind us that one laugh is all it takes to play a game. No matter if there’s a new, a strange or a bad game, the only thing that is important is having a good time since only a good laugh it’s all that’s needed to change the entire scene.
