Phoenix

Just after the thunder

And right before the rain

I run towards the lightning

To ignite my soul again.

Filling me with a fire

That feels so searingly right,

Converting my heart of darkness

To traces in the light.

I relinquish my being,

Reveling in the burn,

For the days of ashes come

Before the storm’s return.

I live for the lightning

Let it my spirit sustain

Until just after the thunder

And right before the rain.
