It was a cold Saturday evening when Michael decided to spend some time by himself at a coffee shop near his apartment. He was exhausted after a long day working so he thought that reading a good book at his favorite place would be just the right thing to do. The bitter yet sweet and warm smell of coffee just made him the happiest man on earth for a moment. Michael stood quietly at a sofa, where he then stared a couple laughing and joking around. Two little kids were there as well, apparently brothers that were mocking each other. He then started to remember about his childhood, and how he enjoyed to be with his family. Michael was about to start reading when an old man arrived, the man seemed so familiar and he somehow felt a connection immediately after looking at him. The old man ordered exactly the same unique coffee as Michael, leaving him breathless and even confused. Michael was a quite shy man who barely speak to strangers but he knew that it was time to change that. As Michael approached to the old man, he was thinking on asking an interesting question, but he decided to stay there and wait until the old man spoke. The old man looked at Michael and asked: What are you waiting for kid? Michael replied stuttering, “I just wanted to talk to you, you seem like an interesting man with lots of stories.” The old man smiled at Michael and said, “You see, I’m afraid there’s nothing special I should share”. The man kept quiet for a minute and then he started talking about his youth. He was so happy to remember about those days, where there were no worries at all. Michael shared some of the few experiences he had, and he asked if he was living his life to the fullest. The old man acted surprised and said: Oh, please stop thinking about it, you may believe you haven’t done anything in your life, but sooner or later you will realize all the wonderful things you do day by day. Perhaps you may realize it by yourself, or maybe a curios kid will ask. Suddenly, Michael felt like if everything made sense. The old man left the coffee shop feeling happier than ever and Michael kept reading his book while he smiled.
