OUR WORLD TODAY

Due to mankind oblivion,

I’m left astray with rejection

Out of endurance, I wonder what I do in this world of despair,

A place where others think I have no value

I tried to escape my little world of unhappiness

I never believed it was real

Until someone said “You little black negro”

Then, the truth got stuck in my heart like an arrow

And it layed like a stone in my lap

They judge me by my skin color and race,

But it has nothing to do with my morals, beliefs and intelligence

And because I’m different, they differentiate

Racism is everywhere

And the pain is too much to bear

I’m just a pebble, lost in this world,

So vast and uncaring

I’m that girl who got insulted in the bus and at school

The girl who was cast aside and counted as a fool

Some people say racism has gone back underground

Based on my point of view and experience, it is beyond our bound

People see me as an object of imperfection

Without giving me a chance to prove them wrong, I got abandoned

I hear from people who contend that racism no longer exists

I tell them I wish they were right

Because they are not

Racism is still in existence

Some people feel special because they don’t know the meaning of pain

Others say that I’m insane

And over dramatic because I’m a victim of racism

But in a matter of time, they will feel and know it too

Racism is beyond common sense,

And it should have no place in our society,

Because we live in a world of democracy

Racism leads to separation and hatred

I resolutely believe that respect for diversity,

Is a fundamental pillar in the eradication of racismFrown
