Sometimes I sit o'er here,
Watching the sun set on this place,
This desolate land.
I think of you back home,
Safe in your warm bed.
I know not when I'll see you again,
If I'll lay my eyes upon you,
And hold you in my arms,
I'll ne'er let go.
Will I survive to see the next dusk?
Will I grow old with you?
I'm surrounded by death and pain,
But I bring hope and courage.
When will I leave this wasteland,
And return back to my home?
Fear poisons the blood in my veins,
Will I die here?
Will I return home in a coffin?
Night has fallen and the air is still,
I lay here in my cold bunk,
Thinking of nothing but you.
I promise I'll see you again,
One of these days.
And if I give my life for peace and justice,
Let everyone remember my deeds,
Cry not, my love, do not worry.
We will reunite once more,
When we will share eternity together.
