Gazing
Under the moon's glow I lay,
Gazing up at the eternal heavens,
You appear as a bright jewel,
Shining your honour down on me.
Like embers from a fire your mem'ry rises,
Into the dust of time.
The feasts we ate, the songs we sang,
Faint whispers as they echo in my mind.
Trav'ling down the path, paw in paw,
Good friends we were, warriors both.
Not knowing where our road ended,
Wondr'ing were our destinies would take us.
O'er mountains high and pastures green,
We treked through wind an' rain,
Always helping each other up,
When the other beast fell.
Alas, I am here alone, my friend,
With you no longer by my side.
But I shall keep you safe in my heart,
For the rest of time.
And when the day comes, that cool summer night,
When I lay down and sleep,
We shall continue our eternal journey,
O'er the rainbow of freedom.
