On Racing

Begin the race, end with grace,

But until then anything goes

But wait, does that mean

The fight’s not clean?

That you won’t come out smelling like a rose?

Perhaps the journey’s the bulk of the tourney:

The grounds for a contest of wits?

If you want to win stick to “no sin”,

Unless you want to show us

Your most significant aspect of manner.

When you’ve tacked the last bend, and the race is at end,

All involved can be proud of their past.

So, keep in mind how it’s done,

Because regardless who’s won,

Your next race might just be your last.
