Bloody Mary

The darkness between

The ice and the blood

Black as night

And still as mud

Holds timeless conflict

Between blood and water

… within I wander.

Green spear through which

Black spike does prick

Green orb piked high

On a stick

Ordains the drink

To quench my thirst

… my last, or first?

Imagine not only

What this life holds

For dreams of nights

To come unfold

Ourselves, so true,

So warm and together

… life, blood, and water.

Author's Notes/Comments:

You guessed it, a funny little thing I wrote on another cocktail napkin about my bloody mary.  And, of course, it is complete with literary license on grammar and noun/verb conversions. (I think I said that right...)
