My grandma keeps her photo album under her pillow, she has it very well maintained and decorated with a cover she made with her sewing machine, it’s blue with some orange decorations and she always tells me that it’s her most favorite and precious possession, this is because it one day started with a photo of her and my grandpa (my grandpa gave it to her when they got married) he told to her that her mission was going to be fill it with as many memories she could and since that day all the beautiful moments we as a family have lived are in that album, even those not that beautiful pictures for when my sister was born, like literally inside the operating room, but still beautiful moments, every time we go to their house we enjoy a delicious and beautiful dinner and with no exception my grandma takes out her photo album but the most amazing thing it’s that we’re never tired of seen the photos we saw a week ago or a month ago, the most surprising thing is that every time she show us this album it always has new photos, new experiences, new memories to be shared and to remember. In that wonderful album we can find birthdays, graduations, weddings, vacations or even photos that for us they have no meaning but that brings so many great moments to my grandma and of course she always tells us the history behind them, like for example that photo where she looks so beautiful and we can clearly see that she is running from something, she was running because she was escaping from school to go for a road trip with my grandpa (my grandpa took that photo) and I can give so many more examples of the memories she kept there but I can write a book about them (or even 2), but the important thing here is that she always tells me “My memory is not going to be as good as it’s right now, so I prefer to keep this love in the photographs and be able to treasure and remember them for ever.”
