Too Long
It's been too long now since I've been miserable
Too long since I've been able to write a poem
No reason to scribble frustrations away
Every cloud has its silver lining - but this seems to be of solid chrome!
It's been so long since I've been acquainted with contentment
Many months ago he moved away
And now I find him back again
I pray this time he is here to stay!
It had been far too long since we had laughed together
Ages had passed since last I looked into your eyes
I had forgotten how sweet joy tasted till now
All had been lost under darkness and lies
Everything tastes sweeter now
Too long have I been eating dirt
My mind and heart so much more free
Too long have they wallowed in a world of hurt.
When things go bad... I shall return
When the pen of sorrow does again
Bleed beautiful words upon a page
You will understand my friend...
My soul has fallen back to rage.
Things are good now
So off I go
When all goes downhill
Surely you'll know.
