november 2010... the first time i saw you,
i shook your hand and knew,
that something had changed.
something had just begun,
perhaps it had been arranged
by the god of our shining sun.
after a life of seeking hope,
i looked for it in the blue sky,
in the seas all across the earth.
but the first time i looked in your eyes,
i finally realized what i was worth.
a question that no man could answer,
you answered without a single word.
i felt like i had gasoline in my heart,
which you lit up with a single spark,
it fixed almost everything that fell apart.
i'm not sure if i can see in the dark,
but maybe i'm just not afraid anymore.
nothing i did ever seemed to be enough,
you're the friend i can actually afford.
you taught me how to let myself go,
and together we learned how to fly.
it's been such an amazing journey,
from the day into a midnight sky,
then back into my burning heart.
and it ends right where it starts.
oh dear god, what a beautiful place,
