He came into her life
Became her friend at just the right time
When no one else was there
And she had her heart to share

She found someone to talk to
To keep her company through the day
To share her life and love with
In every single way

She hesitated sometimes when
She remembered those in past
Who waltzed in, then broke her heart
Friendships that didn't last

When he was silent, her heart would pound
Memories from a dark times before
When silence meant she would be
Left alone on an empty shore

Sometimes she'd complain to a friend
When she felt alone in despair
His words were always the same
Leave him, loving you deserves better

One day she replied oh really
That's so easy for you to say
When not in a relationship with someone like me
You'll find out for yourself one day

But the words he'd said buried deep in her soul
Doubts of selfish nature and pity
What if he did push away and didn't care
Then what would happen to me?

Would I look like a fool because I held on
When others said to walk away?
But what about faith because I feel God
Has brought this husband my way?

So she chose to love, she chose to go on
She chose to push fear and doubts aside
She chose her beloved for his loving care
His beauty outward and inside

Then the day came that she took too much time
She didn't bend to his busy schedule
He poured out in complete honesty
His burdened heart so full

She cringed at the sound, she braced herself
Then deep within her soul came
Those whispers of doubt and discouragement
Dancing on embers of pain

But she saw past herself, past the doubt
She saw the truth in his eyes
She chose to understand she was wrong
As she pushed away the devil's lies

His words came softly and frankly
And his reassurance was music to her ears
As he told her they'd make it through
She knew she had no reason to fear

Her heart swelled with love, she felt peace
His assurance always made her feel secure
She knew they would make it through thick and thin
Of his commitment she was sure
