E'er one morn I found some shells
washed ashore within the swells
and washed them off in water clear
and held one up against my ear.
Lo, I listened, hearing sure
a glorious ocean overture.
I wrapped it up to save the sound
to hear of it while homeward bound.
Unwrapped again in miles far
then quiet- but hush, and fixed do hark:
the ocean's song- the sound of the sea!
I've taken a part of it home with me.
