even though she turned her back
and wished it all to fade to black
it was done and she could not ask
to make it right again …
the wild winds hammered through her soul
and left her feeling numb and cold
so before her heart could grow more old
her mind turned to stone …
she’d come too far to go back now
truth be told, she didn’t know how
so she kept her solemn vow
and waited for the end …
the flames that shot through crumbling walls
could not calm her rage at all
so while the roof began to fall
she ran into the flames –
shouting out his name.
