To know thy heart is to know thyself
To break down what is left
Of pride and fear begins selflessness
I used to live so hard and fast
Unaware and unattached
To all except the sprawling past
I still hear my voice inflect
Within every joy and argument
Wrapped inside the love I kept
It's been said to live thy life
One must preach, not by word, but sight
So, I closed my lips and left them tight
Then a lesson so profound
Fell on me from sky and cloud
As lightning severed my sight with sound
When you love someone and they're near
Love should show in eye through ear
Love should be loud and clear
Now, it's known and I am set
Rooted deeply within myself
It's time to find what thy meant
Love inside is love well kept
My belief once knew as truth itself
But, love inside is not love unless
To know thy heart is to know thyself
