Would you meet me by the water
I was thinking it'd be nice to share it together
Maybe, even share it tonight
I was thinking when we find each other
Maybe, we could take refuge in one another
Down by the water's side
The still of the reeds
The cattails and shade trees
Were always so beautiful to me
As I laid my feet in that cool water
But, now those dreams no longer foster
A beauty unsurpassed
Ever since I ask you to meet me by the water
It rained last night and the bubbles rose
To the surface of water where we sank our toes
So many years ago
Looking back on my life
I'd change so many things except that night
You sat by my side
Down by the water
I was baptized in the name of the Father
The Son and the Ghost
But, now the one thing I miss the most
Is sitting by the water's side with you
Now the reeds and the cattails
And, the shade trees alike
All fail to provide the beauty I saw in your eyes
Down by the water's side that night
