Are you thinking of the well

Of how you’d love the darkness to provide a vail

Of how you’d love to escape the tethers of an old lover

Well, I’m here to tell you

The only truth I’ve ever found

Is that it’s better letting the light heal you

Than hiding from it beneath the ground



You’ve got to stand and fight your mind

You’ve got to hurt in order to know life

But, you can’t let that pain bring you down

You’ve got to dry your eyes

And find the strength sing out loud



In the darkness, don’t you know

I found no friends to nurse my open wounds

I found no color in the walls of impending gloom

I never let myself believe

The truths I guess I always knew

That above every valley reigns a peak

And, that even in darkness you can find hope and truth



You’ve got to stand and fight your mind

You’ve got to hurt in order to know life

Hallelujah, the light has come

Hallelujah, the fight is through

Hallelujah, the climb is done

Hallelujah, this time the battle’s won
