In honor of my absence
You let go to carry on
These insightful, yet destructive
Cliches concerning love
Rebel hearts can speak to masses
But, the ignorance is bound to fail
We speak of love and take our chances
In the closet beneath the stairs
But, we are hiding our true feelings
Behind the doors of our fears
And, now in boxes filled with letters
We reconsider our thoughts on love
Turning worse, we see the weather
Hail clouds releasing stones
So, we run inside to find some cover
Only to find it didn’t come
And, in the haste of poor decisions
The clock of time has come unwound
We force our smiles, but know it’s over
As silence speaks to us so loud
We fight back tears from deep inside
The basement our heart’s now cower in
And, in the darkness of each other
The fears we had are etched in stone
Like clashing steal against a son
A mother forgot to tell she loved
We are left with our decisions
And, the weight that words cannot undo
And, in the ebbing of our silence
We find that words come sneaking through
But, as our mouths begin to open
Our broken heart’s sill assume
That the pseudo-life that love is living
Is the same life we always knew
And, as the door begins to shutter
Hinges speak what we cannot
Hurtful noise against the rust
So, we depart in all the choices
Our rebel hearts choose when we where young
And, in honor of your absence
I let go to carry on
These insightful, yet destructive
Cliches concerning love
