Despite the years of faithfulness
Seems, the pale of rain has spilled anyway
And, the floods cannot be explained
And, all the years spent collecting droplets
That fell from your cup
Have now dispersed quicker than light bulbs burn out
And, Angel, once the light has left, it never comes back
As I recall the decisions I’ve been responsible for making
I find it hard believing my youthful insecurities
And, find it harder imagining I once thought I knew what love was
Disappointment falls heavy on an unanchored heart
Swaying it back-and-forth on the levy of truth, fortitude, and faith
Until it’s impossible to ignore
And, even less possible to accept
And, years pass as moments bleed into memories
Especially, when your mind cannot escape them
And, a mind cannot escape them
Relations strain the desire to continue growing
And, some people can keep you from continuing to grow
And, some people can make you realize how little you are
And, some can make fall in love
But, in the end, you have to learn to love yourself
Cause, once the light has left, it never comes back
