Twisting The Knob

Folder:
2007

I took the fight to a level I suppose I shouldn’t have

But, therein, lies the temperament I cannot outrun

And, I imagined life in a different light

I suppose, the kind that innocence distributes

To children before their innocence dies

I forget, but wasn’t I innocent once

What happened to that kid I lost

What happened to that kid I was

They took the worthiness out of trying

In an instant, it was gone

They shook their heads, and fists went flying

But, we couldn’t do a thing but watch

And, try our best at sympathizing with their pain

Haven’t I been here before

Twisting the knob to another locked door

Praying my hardest to the Good Lord

Praying my hardest, only to be ignored

What happened to that kid I lost

What happened to that kid I was
