After this length of time you’d think I’d be gone
So long trapped you wouldn’t even know I was real
And I’d hang like a picture in a lonely hall
Pretending I could radiate happiness into your eyes
But once again you can’t see my perspective at all
I feel like whoever watches the fly as he watches you from his wall
Fireflies in a jar
A galaxy of living stars
And the youth laugh
Unaware they’re slowly killing any chance
That the fire has to keep burning
How can it be that the sun is setting on all horizons
Seems the darkness is caving in in all directions
It’s always where you can’t reach that you have to go
It’s always when you try your hardest only to fall
That the light at the end of the tunnel is the only light you know
We are inside a circle of two-way mirrors
Able only to see our own reflection
While outside the world beckons us
For the courage to cast the first stone
Fireflies in a glass home
Fireflies in a jar
A galaxy of living stars
And the youth laugh
Unaware they’re slowly killing any chance
That the fire has to keep burning
After this length of time
I can still feel the light burning deep inside
