The Horizon Has Stopped Spinning

Folder:
The Present

Feel the freeze in the air

Bite to bone and shake the skin right off your body

The sun would’ve shown but it was too bright and gaudy

So the crowd dispersed into the circus tent

And spun themselves in a centrifuge

Until their feelings were way too heavy for them to bare

And all the laughter turned into a single tear that wouldn’t fall to the ground

It just floated in mid-air waiting for someone to claim him

He said, “It’s cold out here on my own

Would you come and catch me when my world stops spinning

Cause I don’t belong here in the middle with all these eyes that are on me

And I know who I lost but I won’t force myself back if you don’t want”

The wonderment that lies in the horizon

And the assortment of colors that’s the core behind it

Anyone who goes beyond it must have absolutely perfect timing

And while he’d look up toward that sparkling bowl

He’d think, someday that’s gonna be me there

And someday I’m gonna be the one that all the eyes are on when your’s aren’t

And I might look back down and smile but I could just as well shed a tear

And it would float in mid-air waiting for me to came back down

Now he says, “It’s cold out here on my own

Would you come and catch me when the world stops spinning

Cause I don’t belong here in outer space with all these eyes looking up toward me

And I know now who I was running from but I won’t force myself back on you

If you don’t want I won’t”

I'm coming back and I don’t know if you’re gonna catch me

But I do know if you do it’ll be worth the rough landing

Cause now the only eyes I want on me are yours

“I’m tired of being cold”
