Somewhere in the distance
I can hear a siren screaming
Someone lost their life
But, there's a child that needs rearing
And, there's a baby that needs love
I just pray to God
That He will give them something
To dull away the pain
And, something to give them reason
For why the world is as it is
And, to rip away the blame they're now feeling
Rain is falling down upon us
But, we're not wise enough to know why it falls
But, I believe there is a reason
Just like I believe there is a God
And, sometimes not knowing is knowing enough
I don't claim to know a thing
How could I
When you're standing opposite my side of the room
But, why I came here tonight was not to stand here idly
Or to stare up as the eclipsing moon
The reason I came here was to find you
I'd love to live to die beside you
So, should I attempt to break the news
Or would it prove to be too hasty
And, now these questions are running through my puzzled head
And, it's like the cardboard side is facing up
So, it seems impossible to attempt to piece them all together
And, all these questions do are make me tired
So, my best attempt would be to rest my aching body upon this empty bed
