I'm on the inside looking out

And even though my mind's filled with doubt

The direction I need is finally here

I feel there's nothing left for me to fear

So carry me out into the rain

Where heaven cries on an earth of pain

Just a touch of what is holy

Will bring an end to all this folly



Deceit has formed a seed within

And made me wear a crooked grin

I've been searching for a way to ease my pain

So I can find a way to rid this shame

It's a neverending canyon concealed in black

And once you fall in it's hard to get back

The sweet taste is what drew me in

And made me commit all this sin



Light shone down like a rope from above

And I flew out like a pure white dove

I found a taste of something sweeter than before

Dropping to my knees and there standing in the door

Was a man shrouded in white overcast in glory

He gave me his book which held his story

Saying to me to get back on my feet

He opened the door and gave me his tree



Eternal life is for what I prayed

And I'm back on the path from which I had strayed

I never forgot those hearing those words that day

And how they changed me every way

Thank you for giving me a chance I didn't deserve

When you showed me your way and gave me your word

That through you never again will I feel any pain

I thank you dear God for shedding your rain
